What information nnwi.ai collects, why, who helps us handle it, and how to ask us about it.
This policy covers the website at nnwi.ai, run by National Neighborhood Watch Institute AI (“NNWI.ai”, “we”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 41-3135974).
Our related organization, NNWI.org (InterPrint Corporation dba National Neighborhood Watch Institute), is a separate company with its own website and its own privacy policy. When you follow a link to NNWI.org, or use a tool on our site that NNWI.org hosts (such as the custom handbook generator), NNWI.org’s policy applies to that part.
The Operation ID property registry has its own notice: see the Operation ID Privacy Policy.
The agency portal at portal.nnwi.ai has its own sign-in and its own notice; this policy does not cover it.
When you apply for a pilot or send us a message, we receive what you type into the form. For a pilot application that includes your agency’s name, type, city, state and jurisdiction; your name, title, email and phone; information about your meetings and the challenges you describe; how you heard about us; and your consent choices. For a general message it includes your name, email, organization, topic and message.
These forms are stored in NNWI.ai’s Google Workspace account (Google Sheets, through a Google Apps Script form handler), and we may email you to confirm or follow up.
If you ask us to prepare an onboarding packet for your local agency, we receive your name, email, optional phone number, city, state and ZIP code, your watch group and any note you write. Unless you choose to share your street address with the agency, we keep a one-way fingerprint (a hash) of your street address instead of the address itself. Your request is sent to our server and delivered by email to NNWI.ai staff. We do not send your contact details to any agency unless you give consent on the form.
Onboarding requests are also delivered to NNWI.org’s customer-service mailbox (customer_service@nnwi.org), because NNWI.org prepares the printed materials an agency may order. NNWI.org handles that copy under its own privacy policy.
If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
Donations made on our Donate page are processed by Stripe. The payment form is provided by Stripe, and your card or bank details go directly to Stripe. NNWI.ai does not receive or store your full card number or security code.
We receive your name, email address, the amount and date of your gift, whether it is one-time or monthly, and the limited payment details Stripe shows us (for example, the card brand and last four digits). We use this to process your gift, send your receipt, manage a monthly gift you set up, and keep the records a nonprofit must keep. Stripe uses its own cookies and device information to prevent fraud; see Stripe’s privacy policy.
If you give to NNWI.ai through PayPal Giving Fund, your gift is processed by PayPal Giving Fund under its own terms and privacy policy. PayPal Giving Fund shares your name and email address with us only if you choose to share them when you give. See PayPal Giving Fund.
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use nnwi.ai. Google Analytics records things like the pages you visit, how long you stay, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), and actions such as scrolling, clicking a link to another site, downloading a file or submitting a form. It uses first-party cookies whose names begin with _ga.
We also record when a donation is completed or a request form is successfully submitted, so we can tell which parts of the site help people take part. We do not send your name, email address or message content to Google Analytics for this.
If we advertise through Google Ads (including the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits), Google may use cookies to tell us whether a visit from one of our ads led to one of those actions.
Google processes this information under its own policies: how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block cookies in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site still works with cookies blocked, although the donation form may need Stripe’s cookies to complete a payment.
Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers, and some pages link to our YouTube channel.
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site and our programs (Google Workspace and Google Analytics, Stripe, PayPal Giving Fund, our website host, and the sign-in provider for our agency portal), with an agency when you have asked us to and consented on the form, or when the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information. We do not give donor information to NNWI.org.
Pilot applications, contact messages and onboarding requests: 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted. Donation records: 7 years, as tax and charity-registration rules require. Website analytics: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account. Email: as long as the conversation is open, then 24 months.
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (unless we must keep it, for example donation records). You can also ask us to stop a monthly gift at any time. Send requests to info@nnwi.ai or by mail to the address below. We aim to respond within 30 days.
nnwi.ai is meant for adults, agencies and community organizations. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the information we hold is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive information (such as card numbers) by email or through our forms.
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
